The crash happened at 12:26 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13, at the intersection of York and Porters roads in Heidelberg Township, police said and Daily Voice previously reported. A white 2002 Ford Explorer, allegedly driven by Miguel Sebastian Pascual, 52, of New Oxford, struck a 2014 Harley-Davidson motorcycle carrying Cory Houston, 53, and his daughter Ella, 10, both of Seven Valleys, according to the release.
Witnesses reported that the Ford Explorer ran a stop sign at Porters Road, made a left turn onto York Road, and hit the motorcycle traveling eastbound. "After the impact, the Ford Explorer fled west on York Road towards Hanover, PA," police wrote.
Houston and his daughter were thrown from the motorcycle. Ella suffered two brain bleeds and is recovering at Hershey Medical Center, while Houston sustained fractures to his ankle, pelvis, and vertebrae, requiring three surgeries. Both were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
Investigators recovered car parts from the scene, including a large piece of the Ford Explorer’s front grill bearing the serial number 1L24-8200-ACW, which led them to identify the vehicle as a 2002 model. Video footage tracked the SUV traveling west on York Road, north on Gitts Run Road, and eventually behind a "Tidal Wave" car wash.
A tip from an employee at Hillandale Farms in Gettysburg identified Pascual as the driver, police said. Co-workers claimed he had mentioned his vehicle’s involvement in the crash before leaving work on Oct. 16, stating he would not return for 15 days. His white Ford Explorer has not been located.
Cell phone data showed Pascual’s phone in the area of the crash, including near Porters Road at 12:23 p.m. and Moulstown Road at 12:30 p.m., according to the police. A witness confirmed Pascual was driving the Explorer alone on the day of the incident.
Charges against Pascual include:
Felony Aggravated Assault by Vehicle.
Felony Accidents Involving Death or Personal Injury.
Felony Accidents Involving Death or Injury Without a License.
Summary Failure to Stop and Render Aid.
Summary Careless Driving (two counts).
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information on Pascual’s whereabouts or the vehicle is asked to contact the Northern York County Regional Police Department at 717.467.8355 (TELL) or tips@nycrpd.org.
